TEXTURMAT ME+ measures crimp contraction, crimp modulus, and crimp stability on hanks of textured yarns based on German standard DIN 53840 or European standard EN 14621, which is nowadays the internationally accepted standard test method for textured yarns. Another testing procedure of the TEXTURMAT is the shrinkage test (e.g. according to EN 14621, ISO 18066 or 18067), in which the length change of yarn hanks resulting from dry or wet heat treatment is determined.
Enhancing Yarn Performance with Automated Measurements
All measurements are performed fully automatically on up to 30 yarn hanks arranged in a magazine. The same magazine can be inserted into an oven or a hot water bath for development of the yarn crimp or release of the yarn shrinkage.
The application of tensile forces and the measurement of yarn lengths for predetermined load times are programme-controlled and are brought about by a loading carriage in combination with a highresolution force measuring system. The loading force can be freely selected.
In general, it is recommended to operate the TEXTURMAT ME+ with several magazines. In addition to the magazine already in use in the test instrument, others can be prepared, i.e. loaded with hanks or heat treated to ensure a continuous test cycle.
